Why should your advisor get more from you just because the market went up? Is that really in your best interest? We don't believe that fee variations related to asset-based management agreements are defensible or even reasonable.

Commissions are no better. They provide a built in conflict of interest that can not be overcome. Advisors that earn commissions are salespeople and can very rarely claim fiduciary status.

Annuities can be okay, but you really have to understand what you're getting yourself into. They usually include huge commissions to your agent and enormous surrender chargers that can last longer than your life expectancy. More importantly, all those guarantees are not free. They may limit your losses, but they certainly limit your gains.

Cerevance provides consultation and education services at an hourly rate that doesn't change with your account values. Your advisor may or may not be looking out for your best interest, but paying less is always best.
